ISO9001 is the widely recognised international definition of good practice in quality management and has been formally adopted by over one million organsations worldwide.

The speaker will explain the ISO9001 standard for Quality Management and how it can be applied to IT, software and systems organisations. He will also discuss its value for organisations (now and in the future) and also indicate its possible limitations.

Topics will include:

  • "the formula for delivering to your customers" - an overview of the standard
  • process definition and improvement - what the standard expects
  • is it good practice or best practice?
  • use and misuse of the standard
  • business value of the standard
  • ISO9001 for IT - the TickIT scheme
  • related standards - service management, information security etc.
  • audit and certification - the practicalities

This meeting is particularly suited to those who want to understand better the content and significance of the ISO9001 standard and the business and operational value of operating a quality management system.

There is no charge for attending this meeting, but please inform us if you wish to attend. This meeting qualifies under the BCS Continuous Professional Development Scheme.
